Art Among Friends
Friends of the Flat River Community Library
ART AMONG FRIENDS is an annual art lease program sponsored by the Flat River Community Library and the Friends. It encourages the creativity of school children in the "hanging" arts and raises public awareness of the art work being done by young people. Students are doing great things! This is an opportunity for them to display their work and get recognition for their talent.
All students, grades 6 to 12, who are residents of the Flat River Community Library district (includes City of Greenville and Eureka, Montcalm, and Fairplains townships), are encouraged to submit up to two pieces of original artwork. Students may pick up entry forms and guidelines from their art teachers or at the circulation desk in the library. Deadline for entry is early May. Three judges will select 30 pieces of artwork to be professionally matted and framed for leasing.
The winning art work will be on display in the library for the month of October. The FRIENDS are planning a large public reception in the Stafford Community Room at the library in late September. People in the community can view artwork, meet the young artists and choose which pieces they'd like to lease. We hope that public, professional, municipal and business offices will lease artwork so that it will continue to be seen and enjoyed for the ensuing year. At the end of the lease, the framed artwork is returned to the artist.
